Looks like SWAT 3 has made its way to Steam!

store.steampowered.com/app/560370

Almost tempted to pick it up, I have enough sitting in my Steam Wallet but I don't need it on Steam...

Already see a post in the Steam Forums asking how to get Last Resort working, guess the installer might need some re-working to detect the Steam version?

Shame these releases don't get any updates, sure dgVoodoo will still be needed for Windows 10 and such.

Thanks for letting us know about this. I have been busy with work.

Guess I have to buy it to see how it is different :(

Edit: bought it and downloading. I should have waited for a better deal, lol. Ah well.

I don't know why the Last Resort mod installer is not working properly on the Steam version.

The only thing that seems to work is "Last_Resort-Read_Me.txt" and "Swat_Unzip32.dll" files are copied properly but everything else fails to install. I will need to examine the Last Resort installer for clues.

UPDATE: Looks like the installer gets confused if the user already has Swat 3 installed (ie GOG.com version). It isn't correctly using the new path. I will need to do more testing on the installer.

Well the good news is that the Last Resort mod works perfectly fine with the Steam version.

Steam isn't even needed to be running in the background for Swat 3 to run. In fact the "swat.exe" files are identical between Steam and GOG.com version.

I have made a fix to the Last Resort mod installer that will fix the installation issue. However to make it worth a release I may add some new textures. Will release the new version in a few days.

Glad to hear its working already :) does GoG leave behind some SWAT info if you uninstall that version? or just issues due to trying to install to Steam while still got GoG?

Something I most likely would have tried to find out myself if I had picked up the Steam version, I'll wait till its like 80% off or something, no rush for another copy of the game.

It was a design mistake with the installer. It first looks in the Windows registry for the path to Swat 3. If it finds a previous install (such as when you already have the GOG.com version installed) it stores the path in the variable "SwatPath". It points the Last Resort mod to install there. If you manually override the path (say if you want to install to your new Steam version) the installer incorrectly ignores this and still points to the path stored in the SwatPath variable (your original install).

Basically I forgot to update the SwatPath variable with the TargetDir variable. Woops.

The installer would work fine if you only had one copy of Swat 3 installed and that is the place you wanted to install the mod.
