I have been trying to run SWAT 3 on my macbook pro for a couple of days now... I have tried using both Windows 7 and XP in VirtualBox and tried all the recommended procedures for a successful startup. The error I get is "Sorry, this program requires 16 bit color mode". I have set my display settings at 16 bit color in the VMs. What's happening?

Try changing your desktop refresh rate to 60HZ Exactly

Just to be clear do you mean you can't gets Swat 3 by itself to run? I would always try to get Swat 3 running by itself first before adding the Last Resort mod.

Sadly I don't know much about about Macs or VM so hopefully other can help.

Do you have a compatibility tab like we have in Windows? I assume you have already tried running swat.exe in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode and reduced colour mode of 16 bit (65536 colours)?

Hi guys, thanks for the quick reply.

I'm not able to set the refresh rate to 60hz, the only choice i have in the dropdown menu is "hardware default setting"... that might be a problem. A quick Google search said to update the drivers, but there are no drivers on a Virtual machine.

I can't make the game run by itself. I get a different error message before installing dgvoodoo2. It says "unable to set 2D video mode". I have tried all the compatibility modes extensively, in 16 bit color mode, to no avail. I might have to install the game on a genuine Windows computer to make it work. The VM is essentially a virtual computer running a functioning version of Windows 7, so I just set the compatibility mode in the Windows platform like usual.

Ah yes that may be an error that is fixable. If you try to choose a higher resolution than Swat 3 normally can run then you can't get far enough for Swat 3 to switch to using the dgVoodoo driver and thus gives that error.

Please view the instructions on this page about how to fix this:
