Mirror view distance was created by Slippery Jim

I noticed that the officer mirror tool has a very short view distance (I also assume so do the regular mirrors on the walls of missions). I wonder if there is a way to increase this view distance?

The question should be asked though will this cause a performance hit?

I noticed that even though the mirror tool shows a short view distance if you use it to take a screenshot the actual image produced has your normal view distance.
