Haha, just as I finished testing I read you was testing.

On the plus side? resizing the image is easy enough but the text is still going to display in the same place :( wonder if we can move that?

if so we could create images where we have manually put the loading image in the center of the screen and gave it a black background or could come up with some sort of fancy background around the image, thinking something like Raven Shield.

Slippery Jim wrote: Hmmm, just a thought for future investigations...

Rather than a DirectDraw flag it may be giving X and Y startup coordinates of 0,0 for the DirectDraw window? Sometimes when Swat 3 centers a 2D menu how is it doing it? The game can run in 1024x768 also so does that mean on some windows that are centered the game does some calculating and passes the x,y in a variable to the window?

Perhaps it is controlled by .Con file but I don't seem to recall any off the top of my head.

Maybe compare several resolution calls and see if anything stands out? Compare the centered windows against the top left window call.

Damn... Posting while I am again ;) I was going to suggest its most likely a 0,0, I don't know where this is controlled I was messing with the 00 values around the resolution in the .exe hoping it was there, just got crashes :P

This top left window issue is something I would love to fix eventually because several of the single player menus are also stuck in the top left.

I love your idea for this load screen hack and if it can be perfected I certainly would use on my game. It may not be for everyone though since we can't assume that everyone will play the 3D portion of the game in the same resolution as the 2D. I am sure most people will but we can't be sure?

Well the loading text seems to be 520 down, 50 from the left, maybe 521, 51 if they start at the first pixel, I can't seem to find this information in any con files nor can I find anyway to change this in the HEX of the .exe just tried changing any value that was 02 08 (520) or 02 09 (521) with no luck.

We may need a disassembler to discover this. I used to know how to use them and understand machine language in a basic way but I have forgotten it all. I suspect that is how Alien Abducter discovered the location to hack for the textures resolutions.

Another option could be remove the loading text from the strings.dat and just make it part of the new loading image.

Something like that, I've never been a great GFX guy... just an idea though, something that matches SWAT that is nice and simple where it wouldn't take too long to replace each screen, bit too much space unused at the top but its 4AM I should be getting to bed not toying with SWAT.

Do we have the font SWAT uses?

Could go crazy and actually put some briefing info, maybe throw up images of the suspects and such but that would take way more time to do per map.

Redoing all the load screens would bloat the mod in size. It probably would increase it by about 30-45 mb as a rough guess. I wish they had chosen image formats with compression.
