The old thread got too large so I have compressed it to the essentials to make things easier to find.

If you wish to try the Last Resort beta files (that so far only support 1920x1080 resolution) download the following files and place them in your Swat 3 folder:

Beta File 1:

There are 3 files in this .zip file:

  • 05.res (Copy into Last Resort sub folder)
  • Last_Resort_v0.7.zip (Copy into mod folder)
  • swat_1920x1080.exe (Copy into main Swat 3 folder)

  • * Highly recommend you turn off the Last Resort mod first before installing the files. Start the Last Resort launcher and then hit the toggle button at the top right. Save and Quit. Copy over new files. Turn Last Resort back on.

Important note: These changes will prevent you from joining people who also don't have the exact same beta

    Beta File 2:

This version has cosmetic changes to the menus to make them prettier

(Copy the file called "05.res" into the Last Resort folder in the main Swat 3 folder)

Im the creator of neuwon, a network that fully replaces the original won.net servers.
I noticed this mod adds nice features to swat and wanted to request you add internet multiplayer menu back in.
I would really like to release the neuwon swat3 patch with this mod included but i cannot because it is missing the internet mp menu.
check out the project at http://neuwon.com

If people wish to play on your network (for now until I remake the 2D menus) they can hit the toggle button on the top right of the Last Resort Launcher to return Swat 3 back to vanilla mode (yet still retain most of the features of the launcher). It is very important that people turn off the Last Resort mod properly before replacing the Neuwon hacked game executable (don't forget to backup the existing swat.exe so you can go back it after).

regarding requirements for running a server: It just needs windows, it automatically sends the directory server the IP ever 5 minutes and the factory server if installed as a service will automatically start the servers when rebooting or if it crashes.

it will also work on ubuntu with wine. the servers dont use very many resources so it doesn't require a whole much of anything

    ben5015se wrote:

The factory server is just a server that monitors the two routing servers for crashes performance etc..

the routing servers just hold the game list, client lists and some other stuff.. oh and it also hosts the lobby for chat

i host everything else. auth server, dir server etcetc..

auth server just authenticates the clients and the network servers. If this goes down then the whole network goes down.. i am looking for a backup host for when that happens.. but it is the only piece of software that i have to keep between me and someone i can trust with the whole network basically

directoryserver holds a directory of services and folders. basically a phone book that holds all the server ip's users in the server, etcetc..

firewallserver just checks if a client is behind a firewall

dbproxyserver is just like the auth server except it does not authenticate, it just registers users, holds all the patch information...lots of other things i cant think of at the moment.

Profileserver i plan on integrating into the dbproxyserver. it is currently unavailable due to the fact that the code is so old it does not work with oracle 11g

As for the ports, you will need:
    15001, 20886-20890, 20881-20883, 40000-40024
both UDP and TCP. if you arent comfortable opening so many ports then just open factory.cfg and swat3.cfg and there are the specific ports listed under the server brackets.

when the factoryserver starts, it automatically starts two instances of the routingserver. it doesnt show the console for the routingsevrer, there is a way to make the console show up; but i dont know the config name.

Server reports "failed to load verifier key" but it does say "init complete"

    add verifierKey.reg to registry

Also you can disable the word censoring by deleting the words in dict.bin and dirtywords .txt

the problem with jim being the only one who can connect; it may be because the routing server is registering itself with the directoryserver with a private LAN IP, to fix this either:
1.) (if you have a dynamic IP) get one of those free dynamic domain names (dyndns) and add to the routingserverg2.cfg : ServerAddress= <domain name>
    or
    2.) add ServerAddress= <your external IP>

According to websites these were the ports Swat 3 used while playing the game:

    TCP Ports
    15101, 15200, 15300, 15800, 16639
    UDP Ports
    16638

So I did some testing and "unins000.dat" is the cause of mismatch, more specifically the fact its a ".dat" file, give it another extension and no more mismatch, so if anyone has that in the same folder as the .exe its going to cause mismatch errors.

I have added a new module to the front page that for now only people who are logged in can see. It shows the number of people on the game server and the number of active chat rooms (default is always 5).

I need to make it smarter yet. Right now it doesn't properly detect and report if the server is down.

I updated the module to show if the server is down but only time will tell how accurate it is. Not sure what happens yet when my IP changes and I forget to update the server or if there is a server crash.

Once all the resolution menu updates are done we can start advertising the server being up.

Thursday August 31 230pm EST: Looks like main server is down at Ben's end. I can't get a certificate to authenticate.

UPDATE: Server is back up. I think the problem may have been my ISP since I couldn't reach certain websites and people were reporting strange routing issues on the ISP forums.

Once the internet routing issues resolved themselves the Swat 3 server got it's certificate properly from Ben's server but I still couldn't join. I had to manually kill the RoutingServerG2 files in the SysMonitor of Ubuntu and then restart the server with the batch file. It seems like the RoutingServerG2 files are a little stupid, lol.

NeuWon progress update: 1920x1080 resolution is pretty much done (what was already released as a beta). I am now working on 800x600 adding back in the internet menus. I am also giving the main menu a face lift like I did 1920x1080 so they match.

It seems to take a week's part time work on the menu to complete a whole resolution.

The big question is do I dump 1440x900 resolution or keep it? I will be adding 1366x768 no matter what since it is the second most popular resolution.
